What Is a Postpartum Doula?

Nurturing, non-judgmental support provided by an experienced postpartum doula eases a family’s transition into parenthood. Each family has different needs in the first few months following childbirth, and postpartum doulas are baby whisperers who provide support to new parents in a variety of ways.

A postpartum doula is also a teacher who uses their specialized, evidence-based education to empower new parents to identify a baby’s cues and needs, give baby-wearing tips, and show how to swaddle—amongst many other newborn care tips and techniques.

A postpartum doula will help families thrive in this new chapter of their lives. At the beginning of each shift, the postpartum doula assesses what needs are most important to Mom on that specific day. Is she desperate for a nap? A shower? A warm meal? Clean laundry? Mom’s priorities are my priorities. Every mother is different and Goodnight Doula support is tailor-made.

“I had life-threatening health complications after my boys’ birth and couldn’t care for them for many months. Little did I know just how essential Amber would be.”
